Cricket and more

Hey I played cricket yesterday, just strolled down to the oval behind my house with Gabby (another flatmate) for half an hour. Some schoolboys who were walking past joined us ( I think they thought we were 16). I can't bowl for crap but I think I really like hitting things with bats.
Michelle popped over too, to visit me (and my internet connection!).
Today my Chinese class kidnapped the lecturer and went for Yum Cha in Chatswood. I have learnt crucial language skills - my favourite dessert (egg tart) is called 'dan da' and 'Mei wenti' - directly translated 'No problem' deosn't quite have the same meaning in Chinese as English. I got a very long stare from the waitress. Ack.
And lastly, hello to my girls in London if you read this. I 'hen xianmu ni' - really envy you! Soon I will figure out international dialling and then any hour of the day (or night) will be unsafe!
By the way, there's a new music festival happening in Boronia Park on Oct 29th if you're a Sydney local. I half did the website for it, so check it out: www.ignitefestival.com

working life pt 2

Hey part working life is cool. I was so excited about my job I woke up early this morning and walked part of the way there. Today was mostly learning about all the fiddly little things that keep a business going. I knocked up a business card and part of a Drs note, you know the ones you get the references or doctors certificates on. I'm working on a G3 mac and using Pagemaker, which has to be one of the clumsiest programs around. It is a very grudging program , you have to wrestle every bit of user friendliness from it like a tiger.
Tomorrow night is my fairly impromptu birthday dinner. It's bring a dish and starts at six, so if you would like to pop up, please do. Already on the menu is veal tortellini, and wedges (by me courtesy of McCains) .

working life...

well, so far I've managed to bushwalk twice this week. Once Elyse came, and since she is not Bron, we did not get lost.
I start work tomorrow...this is my first sort of regular paid job this year. Imagine that! I've survived not working properly for almost 8 months. I think everyone should follow the old testament biblical principle and take one year off out of every seven in their lives. After all, at the end, it's all those kind of years you'll remember. And careers are a cultural myth. Careers are the opium of the masses! Rise up from your 9 to 5 slavery and let us begin the Internationale...
ahem...okay, so I got a little excited. Anyway, it's off to my 9-12 tomorrow. I promise I will tell you all about it.
By the way, for my birthday I got the Harvey Krumpet Dvd - very funny in a wrong kind of way, and a cool photo frame with a slow shutter pic of Elyse and I fire twirling from two weeks ago.
Also, the all new www.jazng.com is up and runnnnnnning! Yeah! I've finally finished my website after hours of beating my head and the computer (next time I want to learn a program, I think I should try the usual method of taking a course in it). Warning though, the site runs best on cable and may take a few minutes to load on dial up. Sorry. Might get a dial up site one day...tell me what you think of it though!
